TOUCHUM: TouchOSC Template for Serum

TOUCHUM

The pinnacle Serum controller. Touchum is a dedicated TouchOSC MIDI template designed for Serum, the highly regarded VST by Xfer Records.  Take control of Serum in a way that is unique and immersive.   Touchum can be utilized as a MIDI controller in Ableton Live as well as other DAWs that connect to TouchOSC via TouchOSC Bridge, the app or desktop version.  Also included is support for control via ClyphX Pro.  Free demo version available here.

INSTALLATION & OPERATION

LOAD SERUM MIDI MAP

1. Open Serum and access the Menu.

2. Select Load MIDI Map.

3. Navigate to the Touchum MIDI Map.mmp included in the download and select.

4. Reopen the Menu in Serum and select Save MIDI Map to save within the local Serum folders. (Saving the MIDI Map as default.mmp to the local Serum MIDI Map folder will load the map as a default when using Serum.
   

TOUCH OSC   (https://hexler.net/touchosc)

Open Touchum.tosc in the Touch OSC app or desktop version.  Establish a connection through the app or TouchOSC Bridge to the DAW and assign MIDI as you would other controllers.

CLYPHX PRO FAM

Included in the download is the Encoder Binding text file to be added to the main ClyphX Encoder Binding text file. Script is written to allow control and bidirectional feedback of ANY selected instance of the Touchum Rack. 

1. Open the included Touchum ClyphX Script.txt text file

2. Select All and Copy. 

3. Navigate to the ClyphX Pro(main) Encoder Binding text file and open. 

4. Scroll down to the appropriate section of the Encoder Script and Paste. 

5. Save the text file and open/reopen Live.

Due to maxing out the parameter limit for a 3rd party devices in Live, remaining FX, Global and a few other unbound parameters are included in the Serum MIDI Map and transmitted from TouchOSC on MIDI Channel 15 without feedback.  All the parameters for the oscillators, filter, envelopes and LFO 1-4 have OSC Output along with some select FX parameters (transmitted on MIDI Channel 7).  

NOTE: ClyphX Pro OSC Output doesn't respond accurately to Preset Changes from Serum.  For an accurate update to faders select an adjacent track or device and jump back to select the Touchum Rack.  This refresh gives an accurate adjustment to the faders and some labels like Macros. Buttons controls do not have OSC output enabled due to the unpredictable behavior when changing patches.

At the time of release ClyphX Pro is in a closed alpha testing phase for Live 11
